Qing dynasty (1644-1912), 19th century, ink and colors with gilt on paper, a Chinese sage or wise man is seated holding a lotus flower next to a mountain shaped incense burner with smoke rising up, calligraphy to upper right of image with artist's mark in red, formerly a hanging scroll and now framed, not examined outside of the frame.

DOA 56 x 21 in.

White splashes of paint over the entire image and painting mounting; some spots of discoloration perhaps from water to lower mounting and on mounting just above brocade; a few other spots on the painting.
