From the estate of the late Mary L. Hill, Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Clifton Karhu was an American born in Minnesota, but drew his inspiration from Kyoto and its charming scenery, where he lived with his wife the second half of his life. His skilled woodblock prints capture traditional Kyoto landmarks and landscapes in vibrant color with bold use of black outline, still retaining the Japanese spirit with attention to season and weather to give them a surreal signature appearance.

Good estate condition; some minor soft bends to sheet; not examined out of frame.
