19th century, an elegant shaped horseshoe chair lacquered in auspicious red, having incised decoration of scrolling peony vines around a central inset square image of two dragons chasing a flaming pearl, one flying above and one emerging from the water, surrounded by a key border, the arms and legs of the chair are incised with a swirling cloud motif, the back splat is relief carved and painted with a lush peony blossom, shaped apron and back side supports, with a stretcher base.

Break and repair to front left arm and front support; shrinkage separation cracks at seat; shrinkage crack at upper backsplat panel; some wood loss at bottom of right rear leg.
