20th century, well carved netsuke pair of shishi lions, entire front side is an enlarged and expressive lion face with open mouth bearing sharp teeth and bulging eyes, face is framed by a mane of curls, the reverse side shows the ribs and backbone of the lions, the underside has two holes, not signed.
