A Japanese Bronze Okimono of Ebisu

Meiji period (1868-1912), an extremely well cast bronze figure of Ebisu, one of the Seven Lucky Gods in Japan and also the patron saint of fishermen and tradesman, depicted as a bearded fisherman with jolly expression holding a large red fish with great detail to its scales and eyes, inscribed with three characters to reverse of figure.

Good estate condition; some rubbing to underside of feet; may originally have been holding a fishing pole, now lacking.
