19th century, with impressed circular seal to backside of figure, Daikokuten, one of the Japanese "Seven Lucky Gods," is featured holding a large mallet symbolizing fortune and seated with a large sack of rice symbolizing plenty, his smile is infectious showing his jovial spirit, maki-e style gilt sprays decorate areas of his body.
