Qing dynasty (1644-1912), 19th century, ink and colors on silk, very finely painted with a pair of Mandarin ducks on calm water, above are a pair of birds perched on a blooming pomegranate tree growing from a craggy rock below, pairs of birds especially Mandarin ducks symbolize martial fidelity in Chinese culture, pomegranates are symbols of fertility and longevity, an auspicious painting for a wedding gift, inscription in the upper right corner together with a red artist's seal, hanging scroll format with wooden rollers.

DOA 59.5 x 31 in.; SS 44.5 x 26.25 in.

Mold spots to lower left and right edges; some toning and areas of discoloration to silk; some light scratches to silk; mount has mold spots and wear to edges.
