A Chinese Jade Bowl and Phoenix Carving

Late 19th or early 20th century, includes a deep bowl on short raised foot, with a band of abstract chilong dragons carved in low relief around the exterior and a key motif under the rim, translucent celadon jade with slight inclusions (2 x 4.5 in. diameter); and a phoenix carving with its wings outstretched at sides, low relief detailed carving of feathers to its body, delicately carved head, small hole at top of beak (3.5 in. across).

Bird carving with loss to tail; some chips to edges of wings and at neck; two holes to underside of bird where legs may have once been attached with chips around this area; two small holes to top of each wing.
