Private Collection, North Carolina

Born in South Carolina, John Campbell (1824-1887), he studied at The Citadel in Charleston before joining the Army and serving in the Mexican-American War. He returned to South Carolina after the war and worked as a silversmith and jeweler in Columbia. He moved to Montgomery, Alabama in 1849 and continued in the retail trade, on his own at first and later with several partners. These forks date to his early period in Montgomery and may have been manufactured in the north and retailed at Campbell's store.

Several with minor wear to tines and light scratching.
