This maritime scene depicts a view of the Denton Mill in Gravesend, Kent looking towards the chalk cliffs of Dover. Several smaller sailing vessels dot the calm waters, while in the foreground a small rowboat manned by two fisherman transport a redcoat to shore.

Stable craquelure; minor yellowing to varnish; minor infill to crackle along lower edge of canvas; minor chipping to frame.
