20th century, each bodhisattva has a benevolent expression and is seated in royal ease position atop their respected vehicles, the Bodhisattva of Compassion (Samantabhadra) riding atop an elephant and holding a lotus blossom, the Bodhisattva of Widsom (Manjusri) riding atop a lion and holding a ruyi scepter, set above a lotus pedestal, each impressed with an apocryphal Qianlong mark to reverse of the figure.

19.5 x 16 in.

One back paw of lion with some corrosion and loss to toe; pushes to bronze lotus bases; dirt to surface; some small nicks to edges of elephant's ear; some general wear and small spots of discoloration.
