Private Collection of a North Carolina Gentleman

Eli C. Garner (1817-1878) was born in Virginia. He apprenticed as a silversmith with Asa Blanchard in Lexington, Kentucky from 1838 until 1842. Garner stayed in Lexington and worked in partnership with Daniel Frank Winchester from 1843 until 1862. After Winchester left to fight in the Civil War, Garner went into business on his own as a jeweler, silversmith and engraver.

The shorter with several scattered pinpoint dents to body, minor nicks to rim, denting to base, slightly out-of-round; the taller with three dents to body, minor nicks to rim, minor denting to base.
