Born in Danville, Virginia in 1941, Emmet Gowin is Professor Emeritus of Photography at Princeton University. He is known for his broad range of subjects, including images of his wife, landscapes, and studies of moths. Gowin's works are held in major permanent collections such as the Museum of Modern Art, New York; J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles; Art Institute of Chicago; and others.
