Oil on board, signed at lower right "E. Lambert," inscribed on the verso "le soir dans la plaine de Crouy Oise" (Night in the Plains of Crouy Oise), presented in a period molded frame.

Sight size 9.5 x 15.5 in.; Frame dimensions 15 x 20.75 in.

Antoine Eugene Lambert studied under Thierry and Daubigny and active in the Barbizon School. His first works were inspired by the Forest of Foutainebleau, and often painted landscapes of Picardie & Normandy. He first exhibited at the Salon in 1857. He received medals for his works in 1887 & 1889 (Universal Exhibition.) His works are rare and in private collections.

Some yellowing varnish; frame abrasions to far right and left of painting; else good condition.
