"WT" sponsor's mark, London (1794), raised on four ball & claw feet, with decorative shaped rim and bellflower garland design to interior of gallery, engraved floral and foliate design to center of well, the salver features a later insert engraved "Presented / Together with a Purse of Gold / to / Mr. H. R. Gerard / by / a Few Friends / on His Leaving / Newcastle on Tyne / as a Token of their Respect / 27th April 1871."
