Mark of Johann Betz, Augsburg town mark, gilt interior cylindrical form with slight taper, the body chased with snakeskin band, the base with engraved foliate cartouche featuring huntsmen figures and knight's helmet, engraved with the date 1688.

3 3/4 x 3 in. diameter

5.035 troy oz.

A similar cup, without the decorative engraving to base, was featured in The Schliemann Collection of European Silver, sold at Christie's Amsterdam, April 3, 2007 (lot 688).

Minor misshaping to body; wear to interior gilding; expected light scratching and nicking to surfaces, commensurate with age and limited use.
