Jean-Louis Forain was both a successful Belle Epoque caricaturist and Impressionist painter. His work parallels that of various artists, from Edgar Degas to Toulouse-Lautrec. Forain attended the École des Beaux Arts in Paris, where he studied with Jean-Léon Gérôme and Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux. He was also a follower and student of Edgar Degas. Degas brought him into the Impressionist circle, and Forain participated in four of the famous Impressionist Exhibitions in the 1870s and 80s.

Some light toning and few foxing marks; not examined out of frames.
