English Delft Charger in the "Anne Gomm" Style

Circa 1790, Lambeth, of the Ann Gomm pattern painted in polychrome enamels of five colors with a central rosette inside a manganese spider-like web, the border is scattered with floral sprigs and at five areas are half parts of the central web are recreated.

Private Collection of European Ceramics and Dutch Delftware, South Carolina

Examples of this style of decoration are shown in “English Delftware in the Bristol Collection” by Frank Britton, pages 157 – 158. The style derives its name from a plate with the name Ann Gomm and date 1793 in the center.

Fritting; crazing; underside shows several tight hairlines.
