Charlotte Brooks was a leading American photographer and photojournalist who opened new doors for women in the field during formative years of the 20th century. Throughout her career, Brooks studied with Berenice Abbott, assisted Barbara Morgan in her studio, and was inspired by Dorothea Lange in her pursuit of social reform photography. Brooks became the only long-term female staff photographer at LOOK Magazine, working there from 1951 to 1971.
