Gelatin silver contact print, circa 1989, photograph taken in preparation for Candy Cigarette in Mann's Immediate Family series, this work is aside from regular edition of 25 and deviates slightly from final composition, unframed.

Verso of photograph bears hand-written letter in ink from Sally Mann to Jo Tartt of Tartt Gallery, Washington, DC, where Mann's solo exhibition titled Immediate Family took place in 1990. Verso also with signature, address, additional inscription, stamps, and postmark, as the photograph was mailed [in postcard form] from Mann to Tartt.

Full ink inscription on the verso reads:
"Hey Jo - Thanks for all the good treatment in NYC - it was a fabulous big time! Hope you found your way home and that all is well in the folk art world. Bestest - S - / Opposite: Not art yet, either, The Candy Cigarette / Jo Tartt, 2017 Q St. NW, Wash., DC 20009"
