The Currituck Shooting Club is America's oldest and most exclusive gunning club. From its inception in 1857, this magnificent club provided a private retreat for renowned businessmen from New York and other northern cities. This pintail drake was made by a Long Island decoy maker. Thomas Gelston (1851-1924) made similar decoys utilizing two piece cork bodies held together with wood wooden pegs. This exact decoy is published on page 265, Gunnin' Birds by Kroghie Andresen.
