Elmer Salter (1902-1964), Stacy, North Carolina. Elmer was one of the few carvers from Stacy whose profession was carpentry. He typically carved in the evenings and often used driftwood or wood salvaged from the Core Banks. He and Eldon Willis formed a special partnership and provided decoys to the market on a commercial basis. This decoy sports a Whitehurst weight and an old spike ballast weight.
