Early American Walking Stick With Inset Coin
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Second quarter 19th century, consisting of a tapered ebony shaft having a polished bone handle carved with a high relief American shield, above which is an inset 1829-dated Capped Bust silver half dollar cut and shaped to serve as the handle's top.

36-1/2 in.

Fitting this stick with a staunchly patriotic handle and an 1829 half dollar may or may not have been related to Andrew Jackson's first inauguration on March 4th, 1829.

Original surfaces throughout, the bone with a pleasing creme patina, the coin with excellent natural toning; very good condition throughout.
