Ned Burgess (1868-1958), Churches Island, North Carolina. Most people will not dispute that he is one of North Carolina's best decoy makers. He is certainly the most recognized. The Burgess canvas geese have the best form of all the North Carolina carvers. They are relatively small and have curved , well proportioned necks with bills doweled to the head. This example has a wonderful alligatored surface.
