Made Wianta was a well-known Indonesian artist who explores social and cultural motifs in his artwork. He studied at the school of fine art in Denpasar as well as The Indonesian Academy of Fine Art in Yogyakarta, later going on to practice the Balinese classical wayang style of painting from master artists in Kamasan, Klungkung. Wianta's work has been present in a number of solo and group exhibitions, including the 2003 Venice Biennale, and an exhibition at Mike Weiss Gallery, New York in 2005.
