Norman Cherner (American, 1920-1987), Dining Table and Four Chairs
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
1960s, Bernardo/Plycraft, walnut and walnut veneer, including four bentwood side chairs with arched and tapered legs (31.5 x 17 x 19 in.); together with a square table having a flip top allowing for the table to double in length, rounded tapered legs (29.5 x 32 x 32 in. closed), labeled.

Purchased 1960s, by family descent.

Norman was shortly let go from Plycraft after designing his chair and told the design would not be used. He later discovered his designs being produced and sold by Plycraft under the pseudonym "Bernardo". Norman would go on to sue Plycraft and win the rights back to his design. The vintage set being offered here is an example of the time Plycraft misused Cherner's designs.

Overall good usable condition; some old scraped and scratches to seats from use; table top with surface scratches and staining.
