1968, mixed media sculpture, bulbous form mercury glass center mounted vertically between two conical shaped halves with mirrored interiors, mounted atop an ebonized cube and rectangular mirrored pedestal base, appears unsigned.

Gene is a versatile contemporary artist, creating artwork in various media including modern sculptures and installations, digital paintings, folk art, wood turned sculptures, among others. His work has been featured in many invitational and juried exhibitions. He taught three dimensional art and design courses at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill from 1968-1971, and retired as Professor Emeritus with over 30 years of teaching at Cleveland State University. Gene and his wife are published researchers, having co-written books and articles on duck decoys, fish decoys, and folk art.
