Henry George Keller was born in Germany, just before his parents immigrated to the United States. The Keller family settled in Cleveland, Ohio and his father continued in the cabinetmaking profession.

Keller received formal training in both America and Europe. He studied at the Cleveland School of Art, several years in Dusseldorf, Munich and Karlsruhe, the Art Students' League in New York and the Cincinnati School of Art.

Keller was a well known and respected instructor at the Cleveland School of Art. He found great inspiration in the Midwest landscape and received numerous awards for his paintings as exhibited throughout the United States.
