Qing dynasty (1644-1912), 19th century, large pumpkin or melon shaped box, the cover and sides of box decorated in
tianqi technique with lotus blossoms and scrolling vines, the center with a longevity symbol and the cicada motif rising all along the base of the box, smooth black lacquer to interior and underside.
5 1/2 in. x 13 1/4 in. diameter
Some rubbing and wear to surface; some nicks and chips with losses to edges of box and cover rims; possible restoration to interior and underside lacquer finish.
