German Violin after Joseph Guarnerius
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Being an early 20th century student's kit, the interior label reads "Joseph Guarnerius fecit / Cremonae anno 1792 IHS," below which is a tiny "Made in Germany" label; maple sides and a two-piece back with mother-of-pearl inlay; includes bow marked "LAFLEUR," a wooden coffin case, and a 1925 instrument rental receipt.

Case: 5 x 31-1/2 x 9-1/4 in.

Playable, but should have tuners replaced or refurbished, modern strings and a bridge; two small repaired cracks to the top where it meets the neck; numerous dings and scratches on all surfaces; the bow re-haired, it's tension knob with a substantial loss.
