Meiji period (1868-1912), a finely cast group of an elephant being attacked by two tigers, one of the tigers on the elephants back, the other crushed beneath a front foot, with removable tusks of ivory, three character mark to the underside reading "Seiya saku," comes together with removable wooden base.

Okimono only 15 1/2 x 11 1/2 x 5 1/2 in.; With base 15 1/2 x 12 1/2 x 7 in.

One tusk with break and repair; some scratches and wear to base.
