Aaron Hooper (1879-1959), Salvo, North Carolina. Aaron, a Salvo native, market hunted until it was outlawed in 1918. He made several stand of shorebird decoys. These large curlews were made of balsa in the mid 1940s from life rafts salvaged from the beach during the Second World War. Kroghie Andresen composed this pair on a piece of drift wood. These exact birds are published on page 149 of Shorebird Decoys of North Carolina by Kroghie Andresen and Philip Harvery and page on page 340 of Gunnin' Birds by Kroghie Andresen.
