Cristina Córdova lives and works in Penland, NC as ceramic figural sculptor. Both realistic and surrealist, Córdova's figures are masterfully created in subtlety and texture, and often painted in black and/or white. She completed her BA at the University of Puerto Rico in 1998 then received her MFA in ceramics from Alfred University, NY in 2002. She also studied at the Florence Academy. Córdova has received numerous grants and awards, including the North Carolina Arts Council Fellowship Grant, a Virginia Groot Foundation Recognition Grant, several International Association of Art Critics of Puerto Rico awards, and in 2015 the prestigious United States Artist Fellowship award.

Cristina has taught and demonstrated at many universities and locations in the US and internationally, including he Office for the Arts at Harvard, the University of California at Long Beach, the University of Nebraska, the University of Georgia at Athens, the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Ceramistas de Reñaca in Chile, the Australian National University in Canberra, Gaya Ceramics in Bali, Penland School of Crafts (North Carolina), among many others. She was chosen to be a mainstage presenter during the annual NCECA conference, the largest gathering around the education and promotion of contemporary ceramics in the United States.
