Wallace O'Neal, Jr. (1896-1976), Aydlett, North Carolina. Wallace moved his family to Aydlett in the 1920s and bought a farm. They established a small lodge called the Wild Game Inn. He sold his market hunting rig in the early 1920s to Jospeh Knapp. Knapp founded Ducks Unlimited in 1937. Knapp cut the bottom down on many of these birds in order to achieve a wider beam. This mallard is one of those. It is an important part of North Carolina's water fowling heritage.
