19th century, probably zitan or yumu wood, the back and side interior panels as well as the front apron and legs are finely carved in relief with nine dragons amid swirling clouds chasing flaming pearls, including one forward facing dragon to the center, a symbol of the emperor, the exterior sides and back are undecorated, raised on four squat square legs with ruyi head feet, comes together with a thick cushion inset, base seat area of couch is an empty frame.
