Oscar Carroll (1868-1946), Upper Back Bay, Virginia. Oscar grew up on the banks of Muddy Creek which had a great natural resource in cypress knees. Cypress was easy to chop and carve and was also resistant to rot. This decoy is made from a cypress knee. His birds are early and extremely collectible.

Length 18 in.

Body has original paint with gunning wear; some working repaint to the head; three gouges in the wood on back.
