20th century, the pair of foo lions (fu dogs) are glazed in green, aubergine, and golden yellow, they are depicted proudly seated with a golden glazed mane of curls and and bushy eyebrows, fericoius looking mouths are open showing their teeth, wearing a collar with bell and tassels, per tradition the female lion has her front foot on a baby lion and the male lion has his front foot on a ball, raised on ornate pedestals with double coin decorated blankets bordered with key motif, these sculptures are traditionally placed in front of a home or temple entrance as protectors to ward off evil spirits.
