Two Fully Cased Daguerreotypes, a Half-Plate and a Sixth Plate
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Circa 1850, the larger image captures a realistic painting of a well-dressed gentleman and is placed under glass behind a textured octagonal brass mat (Case 6 x 4-3/4 in.) (Not examined out of its sealed mount, the glass over the image seems to have fine pitting throughout, though it could be an illusion; also, specs of debris under the glass are doubled as a result of being reflected by the polished silver plate; the matt with areas of verdigris throughout); the sixth plate is of a serious older gentleman dressed for serious business, again, in a sealed mount (Case 3-3/4 x 3-1/8 in.) (an exceptionally clear image beset by debris reflecting from the glass overlay; verdigris is present on the mat.)
