Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Knoll, circa 1980, molded wood seat with Knoll fabric and black lacquer, bentwood arms with chrome supports, unmarked.
30.5 x 22 x 17 in.
From the Collection of Susan Cates, Fearrington, North Carolina Purchased from Knoll.
In 1989 Knoll introduced the Franzolini chair, a thoroughly modern interpretation of the bentwood chair. The design, an elegant combination of wood, steel and textiles, features graceful lines and echoes attributes from several of Franzolini’s historical influencers. A Knoll press release announcing the chair’s introduction stated simply, “Homage to tradition. With a touch of irreverence.”
Pitting and some light rust to chrome supports; some rubbing and areas of wear to black lacquer at edges; overall good usable condition.
