A Burmese Gilt and Lacquered Standing Buddha

Early 20th century, red lacquer with gilt, the Buddha is carved and decorated in the Mandalay style, standing barefoot on a star shaped lotus base with gilt filigree patterning, his hands are lowered to his side, layered robe inlaid with colored glass flows outwards in an ethereal way, the Buddha's face is serene, painted white eyes with black pupils almost closed, set onto a secondary stand.

Wood stress shrinkage crack to left side of sculpture and to areas on star shaped base; some surface losses to lacquer and gilt on both shoulders and small area on back; some minor scratches and wear.
