20th century, the youthful Krishna is depicted as a cowherd playing the flute, the lure of his music was irresistible to his female admirers, the gopis, who symbolize the human soul, his large eyes are painted white with black pupils, he wears a necklace, armbands, earrings, rings, and an elaborate cap, dressed in dhoti cloth pants highlighted in gilt, red paint remains to his hands, mouth, and around his eyes possibly from ritual use, raised on a square base with low relief gilt scrolling pattern.
