Late 19th or early 20th century, this screen illustrates a Han Dynasty (206 B.C.-A.D. 220) palace on a spring morning, elegantly dressed ladies are engaged in leisure activities amidst a luxuriant landscape of lush trees, flowers, and large viewing boulders emulating scenery similar to that of the immortal realm, the scene is bordered with dragons and below are archaic vessels, the reverse of the screen shows pairs of birds and cranes, representing fertility and longevity, amidst blooming trees and craggy rocks, the scene is bordered by stylized lotus blossoms and below sprays of various flora.
