Early 20th century; the first a magnifying glass with carved jade plaque to handle, semiprecious stones mounted to the silver frame surrounding the glass, marked "Silver" (5 1/4 x 2 1/2 in.) (good estate condition); the second is a letter opener with carved serpentine belt hook affixed to handle, bamboo engraving to blade, unmarked (6 3/4 in.) (blade with bent tip).
