The Currituck Shooting Club was established in 1857. It is unknown who made this stylish redhead but it is likely from the hand of a Long Island maker. The technique of piecing cork together with wooden pegs was established by decoy makers from Long Island. Thomas Gelston (1851-1924) was a well known maker who utilized this construction method.
