Aaron Yakim's basketry work is featured in prominent collections including the Smithsonian American Art Museum. His unique approach to traditional Appalachian basketmaking was cultivated through an informal apprenticeship with a fifth-generation basketmaker from West Virginia and basketmaking workshops at Cedar Lakes Craft Center in West Virginia.
