The sofa unit was displayed at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in 1958 as part of an exhibition entitled “Living Today.” DuSell can be considered a mid-century Renaissance man, having mastered his techniques as a designer, craftsman, artist, and sculptor. He served as professor of Industrial Design in the Department of Fine Arts at Syracuse University. He studied at the Escuela de Bellas Artes, San Miguel, Mexico, and the Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. He instituted the metal department at the School of Arts and Crafts in Detroit, Michigan.

Overall good condition; reupholstered, but in age appropriate fabric; later wood cap feet adhered with putty (reversible).
