E. Baily Hilda was an Austrian artist known for working in French tradition of the 19th century animaliers. His paintings frequently depict exotic animals, such as tigers in Oriental style interiors and settings, or, as shown in this tranquil tonalist landscape, a flock of flamingos fishing along the lotus lined banks of the Nile in Egypt.

Faint median stretcher mark; repaired tear with associated in-painting visible under UV light in lower right quadrant; minor rubbing and retouch to frame.
