Edo period (1644-1868) or Meiji period (1868-1912), a black lacquered traveling shrine with metal hardware and a single shaped metal closure. the interior has gilt decorated interior and doors, the interior has a red lacquered stand surmounted with a carved wooden Buddha sculpture having an ornate pointed halo rising behind, the Buddha is seated on a double lotus blossom base raised on a three tiered stand with clouds at base.

Cracking, chips and loss to lacquer on exterior of shrine and base; stress cracks to wood; rubbing, wear and loss to gilt on interior of shrine; Buddha sculpture has rubbing and loss to gilt and some cracking to lacquered surface; head of Buddha is missing; finger on other hand is broken; sculpture base secured to interior; metal closure to exterior does not close securely.
