Early 20th century, Harkers Island, North Carolina, the bodies show evidence of being rigged several times, the root heads are primitive yet offer incredible folk art appeal, professionally mounted on a piece of driftwood, published on page 28 of Shorebird Decoys of North Carolina by Kroghie Andresen and Philip Harvey.

Former collection of Roy Willis, who purchased this important grouping of root head shorebirds from David Guthrie in 1970.

Original; wear to cork bodies on the bottom where the decoys were stake rigged.
