Robert De Niro Sr. was an Abstract Expressionist artist and the father of actor Robert De Niro. He studied with Hans Hofmann in New York and Provincetown, Massachusetts and with Josef Albers at Black Mountain College in North Carolina. De Niro's works are present in major collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Museum of Modern Art, New York as well as Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden and the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C..
